COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS INSTITUTE (CAI) INTRODUCES THE ORGANIZATION'S
2021 PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Jan. 15, 2021 — Falls Church, VA — Community Associations Institute (CAI), the leading authority in community association governance, education, and management, welcomes community management professional James H. Dodson IV, CMCA, AMS, LSM, PCAM, executive director of Ewa by Gentry Community Association in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, as its 2021 president.

Dodson brings over 40 years of management experience to CAI's Board of Trustees. He considers hospitality services, teamwork, technology, and quality of life essential to the success of community associations today. He spent 22 years as the CEO of his own community association management company and also held positions as the director of HOA operations and branch manager in community management. Dodson is a member of the CAI Hawaii Chapter based in Honolulu. He has earned his Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) credential from the Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB) as well as CAI's prestigious Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) and Large-Scale Manager (LSM) designations. Jim has served as a director on the Foundation for Community Association Research (FCAR), CAI's research affiliate.

Jessica Towles, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, vice president of suburban property management with FirstService Residential Illinois, will serve as president-elect.

As president, Dodson says his goals are to raise awareness of how CAI benefits the volunteer board members and professionals who serve and support community associations. “CAI will continue to help community associations succeed by staying true to our mission, core values, and education," he says. “I also believe that CAI can be a responsive and sustainable housing leader. We can do that by creating and enhancing an industry that supports geographic and cultural diversity, advocacy, and technology."

CAI members consist of community association board members and other homeowner leaders, community managers, association management firms, and other professionals who provide products and services to associations. That wide range of stakeholders, including a growing international membership, presents challenges and opportunities for CAI, according to Dodson. “CAI needs to be able to connect with and champion each of our membership groups," he says. “In today's increasingly connected world, part of that mission should include raising awareness and sharing the benefits of information technology and artificial intelligence."
