Oppose SB 398

The harmful "home tax", SB 398 is back in the Florida legislature and we need you to contact the Senate Regulated Industries Committee this week (see contact information below) to let them know this is bad for the more than 9 million residents living in Florida community associations.

SB 398 proposes to significantly complicate the system of disclosure and change the fees associations or their managing agents may charge for disclosure which will lead to an increase in costs to the residents living in homeowners associations and condominiums. SB 398 is anti-consumer and anti-business.

Current law already protects buyers and associations and has been successfully protecting consumers for decades. The current law requires any fee associated with the estoppel certificate to be reasonable and refundable if the closing doesn't happen. There is no problem with the current law – this legislation is unnecessary.

Please take a moment and contact each Senator on the Senate Regulated Industries Committee urging them to vote NO on SB 398 it is anti-consumer and anti-business prior to its scheduled hearing on Wednesday, February 22 hearing at 12:30 p.m.
