Three Firms Become CAI's First National Corporate Members

4/6/2004  -  Alexandria, VA

CertainTeed Corporation, SmartStreet (Community Association Division of First Capital Bank) and Community Association Banc are the first members of Community Associations Institute (CAI) to take advantage of CAI's new National Corporate Membership.

The nationwide membership allows company representatives to be active members of each CAI chapter for far less than the cost of 55 individual chapter memberships. In addition to active participation in each chapter, national corporate members also take advantage of:

  • Member discounts on advertising in CAI's award-winning magazine, Common Groundâ„¢.
  • Member discounts on exhibit space at CAI national conferences.
  • Sponsorship opportunities at CAI conferences and seminars.
  • Member pricing on professional designations and education courses.
  • Subscriptions for each chapter contact to Common Groundâ„¢ and chapter periodicals.
  • A free listing in CAI's online product and service provider directory and one free mailing list rental per year.
  • Use of CAI's national corporate member logo, signifying the company's special relationship with CAI.

"This is a win-win-win for CAI, for our members and for the product and service suppliers taking advantage of this opportunity," said CAI Chief Executive Officer Thomas M. Skiba. "National Corporate Membership is the most cost-effective way for companies to have direct access to potential clients in every CAI chapter. We know they will benefit from this unique membership opportunity, and we appreciate their commitment to CAI."

CertainTeed manufactures more than 30 styles of asphalt shingles and low-slope commercial roofing products, according to Karen Steele, marketing manager of the corporation's Roofing Products Group. CertainTeed is a leading North American manufacturer of roofing, siding, windows, insulation, fence, deck, railing, foundation systems and pipe.

SmartStreet is a unique suite of services designed specifically for professional association management. Lockbox, online assessment and ACH (Automated Clearing House for pre-authorized direct debit transactions) are only the beginning as SmartStreet integrates new technology with a friendly, community bank attitude to provide new ways for management to improve efficiency and the bottom line. A service of First Capital Bank, SmartStreet is a key financial, technology and communication provider for community associations. Mickel Graham, PCAM, national marketing director of SmartStreet, is a member of the CAI Board of Trustees.

Community Association Banc, created exclusively for community associations, offers interest-bearing checking accounts, online banking, door-to-door courier services, lockbox services, additional deposit insurance and flexible lending options targeted specifically to serve the needs of community associations. Hession, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, a member of the CAI Board of Trustees.

CAI is the only national membership organization dedicated to fostering vibrant, responsive, competent community associations. The 16,000-member organization and its chapters represent managers, community association volunteer leaders, management companies and professionals who provide products and services to association-governed communities.

Close to 50 million Americans live in an estimated 250,000 association-governed communities. More than a million Americans serve on community association boards.
