The National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM) has received national recognition for its certification program from the National Certification Commission (NCC), an independent, not-for-profit organization established in 1993. Members of NCC consist of 150 associations representing nearly 7 million certified individuals.
"Being recognized by the NCC is a great step forward for NBC-CAM, and its certification efforts," said Kris Cook, CAE, executive director for NBC-CAM. "We are excited about the good things that will happen within the program, thanks to our new partnership with the NCC."
Membership in NCC is available to associations with interests in certification. The Commission offers member information on the concepts and practices of certification to assist them in developing and improving their programs. Toward these objectives, NCC provides members with a monthly newsletter, results of e-mail surveys and reports, press releases, publications, seminars, membership directory and annual conference. NCC has recognition programs for professional staff, as well as national registration for existing programs and exam development services.
NBC-CAM is the first and only nationwide organization created solely to certify community association managers and to help consumers identify managers who have demonstrated fundamental competency and knowledge in this profession. With the dramatic increase in association-governed housing over the last 25 years (10,000 community associations in 1970, versus 205,000 today), there is an expanded need for education in community association management.
The National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM) was established in 1995 by the Community Associations Institute to ensure that managers have the appropriate skills to effectively manage community associations. The Community Associations Institute is a nonprofit association created in 1973 to educate and represent the nation's 205,000 community associations—condominium associations, homeowner associations and cooperatives. CAI members include homeowners, associations and the professionals who provide products and services to them. vice providers.
