Community Associations Institute (CAI) awarded more than 700
career-enhancing designations to industry professionals between Jan. 1
and Sept. 20, including 145 recipients of the Professional Community
Association Manager (PCAM) designation, the highest and most prestigious
credential for community association managers.
The following designations were also awarded during the period:

Executive Officer Thomas M. Skiba, CAE. “We
know CAI designations engender professional and personal respect and
spawn more successful and rewarding careers, but they also elevate the
professionalism of the industry at large. That’s essential given the
importance of the work performed by these professionals."
The AMS is the second tier of professional
certification and designations for community association managers. The
first tier is the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA)
credential, administered by the National Board of Certification for
Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM). The LSM is a specialized designation that can be earned only after the manager has a PCAM.
The RS designation recognizes a high level of
competency in the conduct of reserve studies. The CIRMS designation
recognizes a demonstrated expertise within the risk management
CAI's designation programs were established in the
1990s and early 2000s to elevate the level of professionalism in the
community association marketplace, a dynamic segment of the U.S. housing
market that now encompasses more than 60 million Americans in almost
310,000 association-governed communities.
To date, more than 2, 200 managers have earned the
PCAM designation, while more than 6,300 have earned the AMS. More than
250 professionals have received the RS designation, with almost 100
being awarded the CIRMS.
