Community Associations Institute Honors Award-Winning Members

Ellen Hirsch de Haan, Esq., an attorney with Becker & Poliakoff, P.A., in Largo, FL, was given the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award by Community Associations Institute (CAI) during the organization's 52nd Annual Conference and Exposition, May 1-3, in Dallas.


Hirsch de Haan, also named CAI's Recruiter of the Year, gained recognition as an Eagle Club (lifetime) recruiter by generating more than 150 new members. CAI membership stands at almost 16,000.

Other members recognized for exceptional recruitment include:

  • Thomas J. Hindman, Esq., a partner in the Colorado law firm of Orten & Hindman, P.C., and Dean of the CAI's College of Community Association Lawyers (Century Club, 100+ members)
  • Samuel L. Dolnick, a homeowner and member of the Research Foundation Board of Directors (Hall of Fame, 50+ members)
  • Judy Farrah, CMCA, LSM, PCAM, CCMC/Red Rock, Las Vegas, NV (Hall of Fame)
  • Judy Burd Rosen, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, Community Manager, The Plaza In Clayton Condominium, St. Louis, MO (Hall of Fame)

"These recruiters and our other 2003 award winners represent the foundation and enduring strength of CAI and the essence of volunteerism," said Chief Executive Officer Thomas M. Skiba. "Much like a community association, CAI depends on the commitment of its members and volunteer leaders. We are privileged to have more than our share of energetic, dedicated and talented members.
