CAI Honors Achievers at National Conference '98

The Community Associations Institute honored 26 individuals for achievement in education, publications, leadership, government and public affairs, membership recruitment and distinguished service at the Institute's 44th National Conference in Austin in April. As CAI celebrates 25 years as the nation's voice for condominium, cooperative and homeowner associations, these awards honor members who have contributed significantly to the growth and achievement of the Institute.

The Institute's most prestigious award, the Distinguished Service Award, was presented to Robert M. Diamond, Esq., for longstanding, extraordinary contributions to CAI. The President's Award for exemplary service and commitment to CAI was presented to Mitchell H. Frumkin, P.E. Richard S. Ekimoto, Esq., received the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award for leadership and long-term dedication to the Institute and the community associations industry.

Ellen Hirsch de Haan, Esq., was named CAI's Author of the Year, and Drew Mulhare, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, was named Educator of the Year. CAI's Maryland Legislative Action Committee was named Legislative Action Committee of the Year for organizational excellence, strong member support and effectiveness.

Rising Star Awards for leadership and professional contributions were presented to Chistiaan P. Melson, CMCA, AMS, PCAM; Ron Duprey, CMCA, AMS, PCAM; and Marie Earley-DiBello. Two Special Angel Awards were presented to Diane Burt, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, and Lisa Dale, CMCA, PCAM, for providing support and encouragement to the 1997-98 CAI President.

Awards of Excellence were presented to Don Westbrook and Ed Weber, Chapter Leadership; Jo-Ann M. Greenstein, CMCA, PCAM, and Bill Overton, PCAM, Education; Howard A. Goldklang, CPA, and Marjorie J. Meyer, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, Membership; and Marvin J. Nodiff, Esq., Publications. Awards of Excellence in Government and Public Affairs were presented to Robert M. Diamond, Esq., Samuel L. Dolnick, Richard S. Ekimoto, Esq., Thomas J. Hindman, Esq., Karyn A. Kennedy, Esq., Stephen M. Marcus, Esq., Marjorie J. Meyer, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, and Marvin J. Nodiff, Esq.

The Community Associations Institute is a nonprofit association created in 1973 to educate and represent the nation's 205,000 community associations—condominium associations, homeowner associations and cooperatives. CAI members include homeowners, associations and related professionals and service providers.
