The Community Associations Institute (CAI) is pleased to announce the induction of two new members into The College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL). R. Bruce Freeman, Esq., an attorney with Woehling & Freeman, LLP in Westfield, New Jersey, and Mark Makower, Esq. of Mark Makower and Associates, PC in Farmington Hills, Michigan will be inducted into the College at CAI's 23rd Annual Law Seminar in Washington, DC on February 22, 2002.

According to Seth Emmer, Esq., a Massachusetts attorney and former member of CAI's Board of Trustees who serves as Dean of the CCAL: "I am privileged to announce the induction of Bruce Freeman and Mark Makower as Diplomats of the College, and to recognize them as having distinguished themselves by their contribution to the development of community association law and its growth. Only seventy-one attorneys across the country have been so honored. Both Mr. Freeman and Mr. Makower have met the rigorous standards established by the College through their writings, teachings and dedicated practice in this unique field. We are honored to have Bruce and Mark join our select group and are confident that they will do credit to the accolades now bestowed upon them."

CCAL, which was established by CAI in 1993, honors CAI member attorneys who have distinguished themselves through contributions to the evolution or practice of community association law and who have committed themselves to high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of community association law. The College provides a forum for the exchange of information among experienced legal professionals for the purpose of the advancement of the community association field.

The goals of CCAL are:

• To promote high standards of professional and ethical responsibility in the practice of community association law through education
• To improve and advance community association law and practice
• To facilitate development of community association educational materials and programming, relating to legal issues, for use by professionals and homeowners by providing an insightful and successful community association law seminar and other programs
• To cooperate and consult with international, national, state, and local organizations, government agencies, and other groups having an interest in community association law and practice
• To encourage College members to use their expertise to make community associations function effectively
• To create an environment in which college members can work together to meet their professional needs and goals
• To achieve the goals and objectives of the CAI
