COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS INSTITUTE (CAI) RELEASES MEMBERSHIP SURVEY
More than 80% of CAI members say they're very likely to renew their CAI membership.

Community Associations Institute (CAI), the leading international authority in community association education, governance, and management, is proud to announce the findings of its 2017 CAI Member Needs Assessment Survey. The survey was conducted to quantify the characteristics and opinions of CAI's current and former membership regarding a variety of topics important to each membership category, as well as their thoughts about CAI and its services. CAI membership is categorized by homeowner leaders (also known as volunteer board members), community managers, management companies, and business partners serving community associations.

MEMBERSHIP.jpg"CAI's Member Needs Assessment Survey allows us to hear directly from our members and ultimately gather a better understanding of the essential needs and significant challenges our members face living in today's community associations," says Crystal Wallace, CAE, CAI's vice president for membership and chapter relations. "For more than 40 years, CAI has supported these communities, and we depend on this research to enable us to offer relevant and useful information and resources to our growing membership."

According to the report, the most important issues facing community associations are uniformed boards, increased legislative/regulatory oversight, financial and economic pressures, and aging infrastructure. CAI members are concerned about state regulations impacting community associations, and an overwhelming majority of CAI members surveyed (92 percent as compared to 89 percent in 2013) agreed that CAI advocates on behalf of community association interests and responds to legislative, legal, and regulatory activities.

In addition, CAI members surveyed (89 percent) responded that they're likely to recommend CAI to their peers. Across all member types, the most important reasons for joining CAI include professional designations and certifications, connection to local CAI chapters, networking, education, and CAI publications.
