Community Associations Institute Honored at ASAE Annual Summit Awards

Award recognizes CAI’s leadership in advocating for community associations.

Community Associations Institute, the leading international authority supporting condominium associations, homeowners associations, and housing cooperatives, will be honored tonight at the ASAE 2025 Summit Awards Dinner for its campaign to protect community associations from burdensome reporting requirements under the Corporate Transparency Act.

The Power of Associations 2025 Summit Awards recognize associations that go beyond their missions to make a meaningful impact on communities, the workforce, and society at large. CAI received a silver award for its successful drive to exempt community associations from federal disclosure requirements that would have placed significant burdens on millions of volunteer board members.

“This award celebrates the dedication of our members and volunteers in strengthening and protecting communities nationwide,” says Dawn M. Bauman, CAE, chief executive officer at Community Associations Institute. “It reflects CAI’s role as a trusted voice for the people who live in and lead these communities, and the real-world impact we can achieve when our members come together to advocate for positive change.”

CAI’s campaign leveraged strategic litigation, targeted lobbying of Congress and federal agencies, and widespread grassroots mobilization to secure the exemption. Incredible legal effort from CAI’s College of Community Association Lawyers representing our plaintiff communities from Michigan, Texas, and Virginia, along with collective effort from collaborative efforts resulted in a positive result for community association entities not required to comply with the erroneous and unnecessary reporting requirements. CAI will be recognized alongside other award-winning associations in Washington, D.C., highlighting its ongoing commitment to advocacy, leadership, and community impact.
