Reporting an Oral Testimony

  • Follow up with Committee. Provide that information you promised to the committee. Offer further assistance and expertise. This is the opportunity for you to become the legislator's advisor on community association issues. The goal is for them to call you first before they develop a legislative proposal.
  • Send a statement to your supporters. Let your partners in advocacy know what you gleaned from the hearing.
  • Identify next steps. What happened following the hearing? Was the bill passed out of committee? Who supported or opposed the bill? Will the bill be amended? Try and identify what comes next, so you can prepare for the future.
