Welcome to CAI*PAC!

Engagement in the political process is key to ensuring Community Associations Institute's voice is heard in Washington, D.C.  The Community Associations Institute Political Action Committee (CAI*PAC) raises money to contribute to candidates who support our communities, management companies and businesses.  CAI*PAC allows our members to pool resources and have a united voice to effectively shape federal policy issues that are critical to healthy communities.

In the past year, CAI has focused its efforts on:

  • Supporting association lien priority statutes.
  • Working to ensure fair FHA condominium underwriting guidelines.
  • Providing expertise to government agencies to promote fair and affordable access to mortgage financing for association property owners.
  • Sharing the community association perspective on safeguarding the flow of capital into mortgage markets if Congress eliminated Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as part of the reform of Government Sponsored Enterprises.
  • Ensuring homeowners in community associations are entitled to the same federal disaster relief as other American tax payers.
  • Opposing federal legislation that would preempt existing community association HAM Radio usage covenants.

2017 is shaping up to be another challenging year! It is likely that the legislative and regulatory implications of drones will be further explored at the federal level.  Investing in CAI*PAC will help build relationships with congressional candidates that share CAI's interests and values. Thanks to the work of our members, CAI has a growing list of allies in Congress on both sides of the aisle.
