2009 Large-Scale Managers Workshop

The 2009 Large-Scale Community Managers Workshop will be in Destin, Florida.
The Destin workshop will begin with registration on Wednesday and conclude Sunday morning. The workshop will include visiting unique communities, motivating education sessions, incredible wining and dining experiences, and of course, there will be plenty of opportunity to network, renew old acquaintances and make new friends. This year, the Workshop is hosted by four exceptional planned communities. Large-Scale managers will gather to share their best ideas and practices, garner new information at specialized educational sessions and hands on tours at four diverse community associations—WaterSound, Rosemary Beach, WaterColor and San Destin Golf & Beach Resort, all located in northwest Florida.
Scholarship
Beginning in 2003, the Large-Scale Managers Committee began a scholarship program that offers $1,000 to two individuals to aid individuals attending the Workshop. There are guidelines and qualifications for the scholarship and the scholarship is facilitated through an application and volunteer judging process.
Each fall, CAI's Large-Scale Managers Committee hosts an annual workshop for community managers specializing in large-scale communities. The workshop is hosted by at least one large-scale community and participants spend three days touring properties and attending innovative education sessions specifically designed for the large-scale community manager.
A large-scale community is defined as a community with a minimum of 1,200 units or minimum of 1,000 acres and a minimum of $1.5 million operating budget

2009 Host Communities
Rosemary Beach
Recognized as one of the premier New Urbanist communities, Rosemary Beach is located on 107 acres with dune walkovers leading to 2500 hundred feet of sugar-white beachfront on the Gulf of Mexico. Sandestin has undergone a revitalization in the past three years which continues to make it a great place to call home and shares its style with true resort living.
WaterColor
WaterColor is a 499 acre mixed use community located in Santa Rosa Beach Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. At completion this community will be composed of 1045 homes, including multifamily, single family, commercial space and interval ownership community, health club, heated pools, a wet slip for kayaks and canoes and 254 acres of open space.
