3.   To develop future goals of CCAL.

4.   To ensure the maintenance of standards and quality within CCAL.

6.   To carry out specific tasks and strategies assigned by the CAI President and/or Board of Trustees.

C.  Structure and Relationship

1.      The Board of Governors of CCAL is composed of the President and five (5) members elected by the CCAL membership.  The five (5) members will be elected, by College members in good standing, to staggered two (2) year terms, and will assume their responsibilities on January 1 of each year, coinciding with the election schedule of CAI leaders. A board member is limited to three terms.

2.      The Board is led by a President elected by the Board of Governors from among the Governors for a term of two (2) years. He or she serves as the chief volunteer officer, oversees the work of the Board to ensure its purposes are achieved, determines a Board agenda for throughout the year, assigns specific responsibilities to be carried out by Board members and Committees of the Board, and presides over all meetings of CCAL and of the Governors. A President elected shall serve a full 2 year term as President regardless of term limits.

The Board of Governors shall, at the mid-point of the serving President’s term, elect a board member to serve as President-Elect. The President-elect shall work with the President and, upon completion of the President’s term, become the new President of the College. A President-elect elected during their sixth year of board service may serve a full 2 year term as President regardless of term limits.

3.      To be eligible for appointment as President, a Governor must have served at least one (1) year on the Board of Governors immediately preceding his or her election. Vacancies created by the election of a Governor as President, or otherwise, shall be filled by the members of CCAL via its annual election, and each Governor so elected shall hold office for the unexpired term of his or her predecessor.

      4.   The Governors are responsible for overseeing the development of the eligibility standards and admittance criteria for CCAL, selecting members of CCAL, serving as the steering committee for College activities and functions, and advising the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees of CAI on matters relating to community association law.

      5.   The Board of Governors will coordinate its activity through the CAI Vice President of Government and Public Affairs who shall act as the CAI staff liaison to CCAL providing administrative support as follows: Scheduling meetings of CCAL, the Board, and its Committees; drafting minutes of meetings; responding to requests and inquires from CCAL and Board members; and performing such other assignments as may be requested from time-to-time by the Board and/or the President.
